Do you Need a Trial/Preview before your Wedding?

We often get asked whether you need a makeup preview before the wedding. We call them previews rather than trials because it’s not about “testing” whether the makeup works — it’s about shaping ideas, building a look together, and giving you a clear picture of how everything will come together on the day. It’s a chance to chat, try things out and make sure the look feels like you.
The simple answer is yes, if you can – a preview is always lovely to have. But we also know it’s not always easy, especially if you’re getting married in the Southwest and don’t live down near.
If you can’t fit in a preview, don’t panic. The next best thing is to send us plenty of photos: your dress, your flowers, your hairstyle, bridesmaids’ dresses, jewellery or headpiece… all of it helps.
A picture really does speak a thousand words.
It’s also really helpful to send a photo of yourself with your usual makeup on, plus any inspiration looks you love. This gives us a good idea of the colours you feel comfortable wearing and the kind of finish you’re drawn to.
When a bride isn’t having a preview, once we have all this information we’ll send back some suggested looks that we think will really suit you and fit the overall style of the wedding. We try to include photos of similar face shapes and eye shapes too, so you can get a clear idea of what will work.

On the wedding day:
We always allow extra time so we can go through everything properly before we start. If a bride feels nervous, we often give her a mirror so she can see each stage of the process and let us know if she’d like anything tweaked before we go any further (hasn’t happened yet – phew!).
Our aim will always be the same: for you to feel the best you’ve ever felt, while still looking like you.
Would you get married without having a preview?
We’d love to know your thoughts.
Sally and her team X
